It has historically been set as follows: set JAVA_OPTS=%JAVA_OPTS% -Xms128m -Xmx728m -XX:PermSize=256m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m The reason for this change is the vast amount of Hibernate class generation/schema generation that is going on while deploying jBPM. It is also missing from trunk as well and appears to be due to a change in product\install\jbossesb-server-base.zip which included a new run.bat which needs to be tweaked.
