The problem here may or may not be the same undertow issue that is plagueing hawkular metrics. I tested layering updated undertow jars (core, servlet) but it did not solve the problem. There is some evidence that Wildly 9 (beta2) may improve the metrics issue, but I was unable to test this againt WF9. So, for now, the workaround is straightforward, avoid @Asynchronous on methods in pooled beans, making rest calls.
