also the capability for people to generate the db schema for their db would be good to
have back.
the installation should contain the ant script to generate the db scripts. the docs
should contain the description of how to run that script and produce the db schema
creation scripts.

the database upgrade tool seems to have disappeared and it was a great tool for people to
calculate their own db changes based on hibernates schema update tool.
