[JBoss JIRA] (TEIIDDES-1732) Stream line steps to implement all the steps around materialization

Van Halbert updated TEIIDDES-1732:
----------------------------------
Summary: Stream line steps to implement all the steps around materialization (was: Steam line steps to implement all the steps around materialization )
> Stream line steps to implement all the steps around materialization
> --------------------------------------------------------------------
>
> Key: TEIIDDES-1732
> URL: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/TEIIDDES-1732
> Project: Teiid Designer
> Issue Type: Feature Request
> Components: Modeling
> Affects Versions: 8.2
> Reporter: Van Halbert
>
> Would like to stream line the steps to putting materialization to work. Example:
> - Right mouse click on view, select materialization
> - present wizard to walk thru the following options:
> - create physical table based on selected view/table (export/import of ddl is supported, but would like the table automatically created)
> - put name of name into the selected table/view to be materialized
> - [optional] export DDL (file system or clipboard)
> - [optional] create procedure that has the "select into" for refreshing
> Having the procedure provides the immediate ability to call to refresh, without having to remember what tables. Also, with the feature of native queries, could add the truncate call to clear the table.
> Once thru this wizard, (I think) everything is in place to do materialization for the specified table.

[JBoss JIRA] (TEIIDDES-1731) When importing a file and creating the File connector profile on windows, unable to specify linux file location
by Van Halbert (JIRA)
Van Halbert created TEIIDDES-1731:
-------------------------------------
Summary: When importing a file and creating the File connector profile on windows, unable to specify linux file location
Key: TEIIDDES-1731
URL: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/TEIIDDES-1731
Project: Teiid Designer
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Datatools Integration
Affects Versions: 7.8
Environment: Windows desktop deploying to EDS running on RHEL
Reporter: Van Halbert
When importing a file, need to define the connection profile. Unable to specify a linux file path to the file. Have to use windows format, and then goto the server and change the location post datasource deployment. Can the connection profile be changed to accept a linux file format on a windows desktop?

[JBoss JIRA] (TEIIDDES-1727) Servers View - Translators folder is alway empty
by Barry LaFond (JIRA)
Barry LaFond commented on TEIIDDES-1727:
----------------------------------------
Show Preview VDB and Show Preview Data Sources are still valid options since these "objects" are somewhat transient.
Translators are NOT transient and pretty much stable during Designer sessions, so I'd vote to remove the "Show Translators" check-box and feature and ALWAYS show translators in the translators folder.

> On the servers view, the Teiid Configuration has 'Data Sources', 'Translators' and 'VDBs' folders. The 'Data Sources' and 'VDBs' folders show the corresponding items, but the 'Translators' folder is always empty.

[JBoss JIRA] (TEIIDDES-1591) Improve the default eclipse dialog for entering the secure storage password
by Paul Richardson (JIRA)
Paul Richardson reassigned TEIIDDES-1591:
-----------------------------------------
Assignee: Paul Richardson (was: Max Rydahl Andersen)
> Improve the default eclipse dialog for entering the secure storage password
> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
>
> Key: TEIIDDES-1591

> Project: Teiid Designer
> Issue Type: Enhancement
> Components: Eclipse Integration
> Affects Versions: 8.1
> Reporter: Paul Richardson
> Assignee: Paul Richardson
> Fix For: 8.2

>
> Both JBossTools and Designer use secure storage for storing passwords. As such, when opening the application and accessing secure storage for the first time (usually on starting a JBoss server), the default password dialog is displayed. However, this dialog is unintuitive since it provides little explanation of what password it is requesting and is easily confused for the JBoss / Teiid admin password or the Teiid jdbc password. Ironically, this password will allow access to both of them!
> Investigation shows that the default password provider can be overridden using the org.eclipse.equinox.security.secureStorage extension point.

by Paul Richardson (JIRA)
Paul Richardson commented on TEIIDDES-1727:
-------------------------------------------
The display of the translators is determined by the 'Show Translators' option in the drop-down menu of the servers view.
Things to do:
* The option is not quite synchronized with the underlying flag to display the translators
* Remove the translators folder entirely if the flag is false to avoid confusion.

I have attached screenshot of the original unintuitive dialog, Makes sense if you know what to enter but completely baffling to users who have never seen it before.
