[JBoss JIRA] (TEIIDDES-1591) Improve the default eclipse dialog for entering the secure storage password
by Max Rydahl Andersen (JIRA)
Max Rydahl Andersen commented on TEIIDDES-1591:
-----------------------------------------------
Btw. the juno specific link in the code seems wrong/unnecessary to include. Users don't need to care about which API or technical feature is used for this.
Simpler suggestion:

Secure storage allows sensitive data such as passwords to be stored safely. Access to this facility is, by default, governed by a single password that is entered once on creation and thereafter when a process accesses it for the first time.

To create and access secure storage please enter a password.

> Both JBossTools and Designer use secure storage for storing passwords. As such, when opening the application and accessing secure storage for the first time (usually on starting a JBoss server), the default password dialog is displayed. However, this dialog is unintuitive since it provides little explanation of what password it is requesting and is easily confused for the JBoss / Teiid admin password or the Teiid jdbc password. Ironically, this password will allow access to both of them!
> Investigation shows that the default password provider can be overridden using the org.eclipse.equinox.security.secureStorage extension point.

[~phantomjinx] how does the dialog look when you don't have this plugin installed ?
if it is bad it sounds to me this would be better done (in long term) by contributing a fix to eclipse itself to make it intuitive.

[JBoss JIRA] (TEIIDDES-1730) When creating datasource for Teiid VDB, default to using local Teiid connection
by Van Halbert (JIRA)
Van Halbert created TEIIDDES-1730:
-------------------------------------
Summary: When creating datasource for Teiid VDB, default to using local Teiid connection
Key: TEIIDDES-1730
URL: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/TEIIDDES-1730
Project: Teiid Designer
Issue Type: Feature Request
Components: Teiid Integration, Usability
Affects Versions: 7.8
Reporter: Van Halbert
>From a usability issue, it would good if the default Teiid URL defined in the datasource that is created on the server is for the local connection. IMO, majority of the time when a Teiid datasource is defined in the server if for a local connection to be used by web applications or integration with other components (i.e, ESB) that will access Teiid via JNDI.

> After renaming a virtual model that is a dependency of many other models, the following error sometimes occurs:
> Unresolved reference "file:/<file_path_to_base_model>/<name_of_old_base_model>"
> Seems may have something to do with model object proxies and loading of models. If all the models are open in an editor, the error will not occur. However, if no editors are open, the error may occur.
> The error is generated from the ResourceInScopeValidationRule class when an EMF resource cannot be found.
