[JBoss JIRA] (TEIIDDES-1843) could installation of Teiid Designer be made simpler via p2 metadata <references> to upstream sites?

Paul Richardson reassigned TEIIDDES-1843:
-----------------------------------------
Assignee: Mark Drilling (was: Paul Richardson)
Hey Mark,
Can you update the download and install instructions [here|https://www.jboss.org/teiiddesigner/downloads] since we no longer need steps 2 and 3. Getting designer from the integration-stack update site in step 4 should be sufficient.

> Current instructions for installing Teiid Designer 8.2 [1] involve multiple steps, installs, and restarts of Eclipse. This is more complex than it needs to be.
> [1] https://www.jboss.org/teiiddesigner/downloads
> Instead, the Teiid Designer update site could simply reference the upstream URLs that it needs to perform the installation, and as long as all of Teiid Designer's features & plugins properly define dependencies on the required upstream features and plugins on these update sites, installation should be able to proceed from a single URL, rather than a handful. It would allow installation via a single step, rather than several iterative steps.
> I'll attach a PR to demonstrate this.

[JBoss JIRA] (TEIIDDES-1860) Add capability to force quotes around the column names containing spaces in "Name in Source" property.
by Barry LaFond (JIRA)
Barry LaFond commented on TEIIDDES-1860:

So is there anything useful we can do for the user?
1) Could capture the quote string on import and store in Extension prop?
2) Allow user to hand-set/change/edit this property if none defined?
3) If none defined, warn the user? (problem marker)
4) Implement any/all option 1/2/3 from above?
or... let the user fend for themselves?

> Add capability to force quotes around the column names containing spaces in "Name in Source" property. The same as tablenames with spaces quote the "Name in Source" property.
> From the table editor you can put quotes around the columns but it is very time consuming.

[JBoss JIRA] (TEIIDDES-1860) Add capability to force quotes around the column names containing spaces in "Name in Source" property.
by Steven Hawkins (JIRA)
Steven Hawkins commented on TEIIDDES-1860:
------------------------------------------
You can't assume the double quote character is the quote string - you'd likely want to capture it on import. And of course in some weird cases (like excel) you can see something like [] quoting.

Options:
1) Move the auto-format NIS to the Indexing step
* Would mean the actual Teiid/VDB metadata would be different than the XMI file
* Also require same auto-format NIS step for any Exporter of XMI file (i.e. DDL exporter)
2) Catch the user's NIS property change and auto-format for them
3) Add validation rule to check for NIS's that require DQuotes
* Add a quick-fix for it including "FIX ALL"
