[~mkouba] I think the implication is that we want some of the features of {{Optional}}.  For example

MyBean bean = instance.select(MyBean.class).orElseThrow(() -> SomeException.class);
MyBean bean = instance.select(MyBean.class).orElse(someAlternate); //or supply
instance.select(MyBean.class).ifPresent(() -> someWork);
