I see. We can extend {{Instance}} functionality then. Something like {{Instance.getOptional()}}? The default impl could be:

default Optional getOptional() {
  if (isResolvable()) {
    return java.util.Optional.of(get());
  } 
  return java.util.Optional.EMPTY;
}
