We might also consider to publish API change reports generated by JDiff (http://www.jdiff.org/). I ran it locally to see what changed from 4.0.2 to 4.1 and from 4.1 to 4.2. The result looks promising and I think this would be a valuable information for users considering upgrading to a new version.
