Sanne Grinovero commented on HSEARCH-1097:
------------------------------------------

Hi,
which APIs in particular? We might test against older API versions, but they are stable. The reason is that newer API are backwards compatible, so compiling and testing against those makes sure the project will work for people using the old version or the new version alike.

Regarding "snappy", I agree I'll look into that.. but it's tricky as it is a transitive dependency of Apache Avro, which apparently has decided to ship their final release 1.5.1 using that version. Which means as well that, unless you use Avro, it won't affect you. Avro is used as serialization library with the JMS or JGroups backends.

> i notice many of the required jars packaged in hibernate search 4.1 up are quite old now and some of them are beta. it would be good to clean this up and move away from beta jars. in particular i refer to snappy and apis
