Ok I use the 1.2.14 version of log4j perhaps it is fixed in the very last version 1.2.15.
It's very annoying to have to place the log4j library in tomcat lib. I'm not sure this will not create other problems.
Also, I think I will add this issue in the bug tracker of log4j.
