Bela, thanks for your attention to this.  
1. I made a mistake in the file name: my config was actually mping.xml.  Sorry for the confusion.  Is mping supported?
2. Thanks for catching that.  I have tested with SIGHALT, but when I whittled down my previous test cases down to this one file, I messed up the cuts & pastes.
3. should the mping.xml that ships with jgroups be amended to include FC?

I heard a rumor that during periods of instability, cluster members should throttle themselves down until a stable view is achieved.  Can this behavior be better implemented by flow control, or does an application programmer stand a chance of accomplishing this on their own?
