I have this problem too. :( 
I use NetBeans 5.5.1. RC1 and JBoss 4.2.0 GA

Why it can't simply work?
Sun App Server and GlassFish and TomCat good work after install. 
But for  JBoss i should use drill and boring machine. 
I have a mad smile.
