I did some more checking.  I took the fresh jboss-4.2.3.GA-jdk6.zip file straight from the download site, I unzip it, I run it, and I get that invoker error shown above.

This is pretty strange.  It shouldn't be erroring as a fresh install, should it?  What could be causing this?
