Yes, that WAS the problem (though, I don't see how you were able to discern that from the stack trace). Now, when I go to deploy, I get a stack trace telling me it cannot find spring.jar, though I HAVE spring.jar in /WEB-INF/lib :

Isn't it enough that a required jar file be in /WEB-INF/lib ? Thanks again.
