What do you mean by (specifically, the word 'automatically'):

JBoss AS has always supported exploded deployment, and has always required, for such deployments, that the primary descriptor file (web.xml for WARs) be 'touched' to cause a redeploy. (Of course, you can updated static and JSP files without having to redeploy.)
