Nick Boldt commented on JBDS-710:
---------------------------------
After clicking around in the view some more, I discovered that:
Ports
> JBoss Web > right-click > Edit File > server.xml
> JNDI > right-click > Edit File > [1]
> JNDI RMI > right-click > Edit File > [1]
> JRMP Invoker > /home/nboldt/jbdevstudio/jboss-eap/jboss-as/server/default/conf/jboss-service.xml > right-click > Edit File > [1]
> Pooled Invoker > /home/nboldt/jbdevstudio/jboss-eap/jboss-as/server/default/conf/jboss-service.xml > right-click > Edit File > [1]
> Web Services > /home/nboldt/jbdevstudio/jboss-eap/jboss-as/server/default/conf/jboss-service.xml > right-click > Edit File > [1]
[1] /home/nboldt/jbdevstudio/jboss-eap/jboss-as/server/default/conf/jboss-service.xml
So why didn't this work the first time OOTB? What did I do to "unlock" this functionality?
And why can't the default/tmp/deploy/tmp/*jboss-service.xml be opened this way?
I only have one clue in the .log:
eclipse.buildId=M20090211-1700
java.version=1.6.0_0
java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc.
BootLoader constants: OS=linux, ARCH=x86, WS=gtk, NL=en_US
Command-line arguments: -os linux -ws gtk -arch x86

> First time I tried this, selecting
> "JBoss Server View > XML Config > Ports > choose a file, right-click > Edit File "
> did nothing. So, I opened this issue in a browser, and went back to verify... now it opens a file, but it's the wrong file - or at least not the file referenced in the view.
> File opened is called "server.xml"; file on which I clicked to see the file was:
> ~/jbdevstudio/jboss-eap/jboss-as/server/default/conf/jboss-service.xml
> This may be working as intended, but it's unclear WHY the view is linked to a file which isn't the one mentioned. Usability issue at the very least, if not a functional problem.
