I finally have hits triggered by the plugin in google analytics. Besides session identification by cookies, the user agent detection in GA seems picky. It just drops hits by 'browsers' that do not fullfill certain (intransparent to me) requirements in the user agent string.

I now report (an emulate a 'browser'):

- JBoss Tools or JBoss Developer Studio
- JBoss Tools/JBoss Developer Studio Version
- OS

The next step is to report plugins installed in the instance that's being reported.
