I am following the instructions as posted and have installed the updates in the order as listed on http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/development/ :

    *  BIRT 2.6 Update Site
    * m2eclipse 0.10 Release
    * m2eclipse Extras 0.10 Release

"m2eclipse Extras 0.10 Release" depends on Subclipse as indicated by the error message when attempting to install from the update site:

Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
  Software being installed: Maven SCM handler for Subclipse (Optional) 0.10.0.20100209-0800 (org.maven.ide.eclipse.subclipse.feature.feature.group 0.10.0.20100209-0800)
  Missing requirement: Maven SCM handler for Subclipse 0.10.0.20100209-0800 (org.maven.ide.eclipse.subclipse 0.10.0.20100209-0800) requires 'bundle org.tigris.subversion.subclipse.core 0.0.0' but it could not be found
  Cannot satisfy dependency:
    From: Maven SCM handler for Subclipse (Optional) 0.10.0.20100209-0800 (org.maven.ide.eclipse.subclipse.feature.feature.group 0.10.0.20100209-0800)
    To: org.maven.ide.eclipse.subclipse [0.10.0.20100209-0800] 

When attempting to install Maven using update sites for the documentation of a Hibernate Tutorial, I followed the M2Eclipse documentation (http://www.sonatype.com/books/m2eclipse-book/reference/) and had success by installing 

1. Mylyn
2. Subclipse
3. M2Eclipse

I have attached a pdf of the document as it may be useful (note that this document wasn't completed as I was tasked to do something else).

In this instance, installing:

1. BIRT 2.6 Update Site
2. m2eclipse 0.10 Release
3. http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.6.x (for my svn 1.6.9) 
4. m2eclipse Extras 0.10 Release 

Resolves the dependency issues. As an additional test, I created a Maven WebbApp archetype project without error.
