There was no way to override the http://download.jboss.org/example/download_runtime.xml url before.
Now you can override the url with the jboss.runtime.directory.url VM argument (-Djboss.runtime.directory.url=<your_url>, for instance).
Committed to the trunk. Attached is the jbide-11683a.patch patch.
