How about we use the folder defined in ide-config.properties [1] for jboss.discovery.earlyaccess.site.url ?

[1] http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/configuration/ide-config.properties

Then we can simply look at the correct product (jbosstools or devstudio) & version (4.2.0.CR1, 4.2.0.Final, 8.0.0.CR1, 8.0.0.GA) and determine which file to pull, eg., from 

http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/discovery/nightly/core/master/jbtearlyaccess.properties
http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/discovery/development/4.2.0.CR1/jbtearlyaccess.properties
http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/stable/luna/central/earlyaccess/jbtearlyaccess.properties
or
https://devstudio.jboss.com/updates/8.0-development/central/earlyaccess/jbtearlyaccess.properties
https://devstudio.jboss.com/updates/8.0/central/earlyaccess/jbtearlyaccess.properties
etc.
