Fred Bricon commented on JBDS-2654:
-----------------------------------
We can keep it around (I'd like to see it fix too, eventually), but a fix will require the Eclipse platform to provide a global notification mechanism (a la growl). See https://wiki.eclipse.org/Platform_UI/Notifications and https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=229823

> Made an edit to the maven settings.xml file. Missed a line, and the error reported in the IDE had nothing to do with a typo in the .m2/settings.xml file. Good error reporting and validation needs to be a part of maven in JBDS.
