I believe the issue is in the staging environment probably due to bullet 2:

(03:19:19 PM) agoldste: jcantril: upstream kube changed exec/port-forward from http GET to POST. we made 2 changes in origin to address this - 1) try POST, if that fails, try GET, 2) update the policy to support POST (requires etcd update)
