We weren't actually use the nexus-maven-plugin to automate the promotion,
though that could certainly be implied by how I explained it in the ticket.
By automation I was referring to our step-by-step release guide, which, when
followed literally, is effectively the same as automation (human automation
;)). The problem is that the guide failed to comprehensively explain how to
check the artifacts from the UI at the time Jordan was releasing the JMS
module. We learned from the experience and have since updated the text so
that it's more clear what to check.

So we are on the same page :) and the guide is now explicit (though I'm open
to improving it further, of course). Certainly a good lesson learned, and
likely avoidable from this point forward.
