We have a new repository here: https://github.com/gatein/gatein-portal-quickstart It's mapped on the idea of: https://github.com/jboss-jdf/jboss-as-quickstart Those are examples, they duplicate to some extend this: https://github.com/gatein/gatein-portal/tree/master/examples They are made to be easy to consume in JBoss Tools, also they follow some pattern. - Only public APIs - All dependencies pulled from a Bill Of Material for a specific version of GateIn - Can be compiled independently of the portal (- Should compile with Maven central, but that may not be the case yet) We will ship those examples along with the project as a separate zip. I know some will prefer to keep: https://github.com/gatein/gatein-portal/tree/master/examples Because it gets compiles with the project and make sure they always compile. Also those examples can use non-public-API libraries. So I won't delete them. We may add the very nice Sudoku portlet contributed yesterday if we can make it follow best practices. (Using jQuery): https://github.com/dzolo/sudoku_portlet (Haven't checked the code yet to decide if it can be shown as best practice), it's more that a quickstart.

An example showing Organization API would also be welcome.

Later we plan to make some of them as Maven archetypes (and actually reverse things and make the examples automatically built from Maven archetypes). Later when we will add more public APIs, the BOM will start to have more value.

actually looking at all this JS new and exciting stuff I think we shoud schedule (resurect) a knowledge meeting soon.
