Sorry for the late reply.

Any of the work done to the Weld examples was done under the JBoss Contributor Agreement so can be relicensed to LGPL with no problem. All work subsequent to the fork of them to JBoss AS was done by employees of Red Hat so can be relicensed with no problem.

IMO they should be LGPL to be consistent with JBoss AS.
