Of course this cannot be default behavior, because as you say {{value.toString}} is not
well defined. On the other hand in some situations you "know" what you are
validating. A good example would be the validation of forms in web application (often just
strings). If you in this case can actually display the failing value and say for example
"The email foo$bar.de is invalid" you can provide valuable information to the
user. This issue originates form several posts on the forum where this feature was
requested.
Create a pluggable MessageInterpolator which can interploate
${value}
