We have integrated WindUp with Maven and our Development Lifecycle, and
this process is under Java 7. This is the main reason because we don't use
WindUp by command-line.
I don't want to be a stopper to change to Java 8, so a I good idea is could
be make a version Java7/8 compatible and the next one only in Java 8. This
roadmap es very common in a lot of proyects.
But, when is 2.6.0 version is comming?

So if 2.6.0 is coming soon then we will prefer run under 7, if it is
taking more time then we have not problem.
