As mentioned before, an OSGi Framework can be controlled using a standard interface: org.osgi.framework.launch.Framework extends Bundle. In some test scenarios (especially ones involving Distributed OSGi) you'd want to bring up multiple frameworks and run tests bundles in both of them.
