I was actually experimenting with this in the GlassFish container. In GlassFish, you
execute asadmin commands rather than sending extra deployments. For instance, you execute
add-resources and pass an XML file that describes the resources to be added. Just

It took me quite some time to figure out how to put everything in an ear when testing a
resource archive (the ejbs, the rar itself and the rar config with the xml files properly
set). I think the test code would be much more simple and clear if we could define more
than one artifact to be deployed in the container.
I would even prefer to annotate more than one method with @Deployment. Thus, we could
assemble some artifacts in a reusable super class and the artifacts specific for the test
case in the concrete test class. But I have no instant idea on how to elegantly handle
deployment ordering then.
