Zoran Regvart commented on HHH-4596:
------------------------------------
You are absolutely right, let me explain use case in which I needed this: I need to
generate unique sequential identifiers within a confines of a day, so composite identifier
is composed of date and a sequence that gets reset each day. I believe this would be a
common requirement in financial processing applications -- to have the transaction number
within a day as a identifier of a transaction (this would be my case).
Reaping the benefits of schema export and hql/criteria API's was given the priority
against the alternative to have id's generated in a SQL trigger or stored procedure.
Also I found that the patch is missing two more files needed for the test the entity and
the mapping file, that was sloppy sorry about that -- so I'll attach those as well.
Bulk insertion with assigned identifiers

Key: HHH-4596
URL:
http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-4596
Project: Hibernate Core
Issue Type: Patch
Components: core
Affects Versions: 3.5.0-Beta-2
Environment: latest hibernate, but tracing this since batch processing inception
Reporter: Zoran Regvart
Attachments: assigned-bulk-insert-2.patch, assigned-bulk-insert.patch
supportsIdGenWithBulkInsertion method of HqlSqlWalker explicitly checks if the id
generator is either SequenceGenerator or PostInsertIdentifierGenerator, I think this could
be extended to include Assigned id generator, attached is the patch for that
