I don't think it can be APM, as it wouldn't be impacted by the scaling of the app
- i.e. if it was APM we would see drops in txns at other points where the scaling
wasn't occurring.

Yes.

Not yet, but I have it on my radar. I think there's something in our
example that is not perfectly coded, as I've seen some Vert.x warnings
like "timed out waiting for answer from ...".
