Andrew C. Oliver commented on HHH-3486:
---------------------------------------
Dude I have no idea what your weird personal thing is and I don't really care (and
maybe that is my arrogance). I was not a contractor at JBoss for the entire time you
worked there until after it merged into Red Hat, I was an employee. I never wanted to be
best buds just get you to do your job to make customers happy. Mostly when I asked you
for things it was because someone told me to. I went to great pains to just do whatever
needed to be done myself most of the time. Not sure why you want to air this in the
middle of a jira bug about "dude, put out a distribution that runs" but okay.
on the matter at hand (and not your strange personal issues or weird long grudges):
why not:
hibernate.zip
required
...
requires-one
...
This way you have a whole and complete distribution that runs. That is how it always
worked before and is least confusing to users accustomed to a running distribution.
Include one ore more SLF4J "adapters"
-------------------------------------
Key: HHH-3486
URL:
http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-3486
Project: Hibernate Core
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: build
Affects Versions: 3.3.0.GA, 3.3.0.SP1, 3.3.1
Reporter: Chris Bredesen
Assignee: Steve Ebersole
Hibernate, as of 3.3, no longer distributes all jars needed to run the framework. SLF4J
requires the inclusion of the SLF4J library as well as either a native or a wrapped
implementation. The manual vaguely references such a need but it's never quite clear
that the user must visit the SLF4J website and obtain these jars himself. Maven users are
of course unaffected since the additional SLF4J jars are published in the central repo.
"Adapter" may be the wrong term here but I think the point has been made :)
