I think that i found a bug. In my hql, in select clause if i put something like this: "select cast(myfunction(table.field1,anotherfunction(table.field2)) as string) ) as myresult, table.field1, table.field2 from MyClass " i have this error: Caused by: org.hibernate.QueryException: cast() requires two arguments ... I think that the second comma after field1 is making hibernate crazy, because when i try another function like this: "select cast(myfunction(table.field) as string) ) as myresult, table.field1, table.field2 from MyClass " everything works fine.
