The fix was to introduce a new service which maintained a cache of information related to that handling (basically avoiding reflection calls). But Hibernate already has a couple of classes meant to hold entity-specific metadata which is what this boils down to. I think a better solution would be to leverage those already existing entity-specific metadata to hold this information in a non-reflective manner. I put some initial thoughts on HHH-6735 itself. I will move over here as they solidify.
