I fixed the NPE but the index will not be expressed
I am thinking of introducing a new annotation @JoinTableIndexes(Index[]) to express
indexes on association tables.
But before going that path why are you expressing an index on a column which is already
indexed (part of the table PK)?

When this annotation is used, a primary key is created to include the owner side of the
relationship's foreign key and the column referenced in the @IndexColumn annotation.

However, a unique constraint is created for the *owned* foreign key column. In MySQL it
seems as if this index is being used when querying. However, my experience with
PostgreSQL, is that I need to manually create an index on this *owned* foreign key column.

For Oracle it is a best practice to add for all foreign key columns an index. Otherwise
Oracle needs to apply a full "table-level" lock (as opposed to the usual
row-level locks) to the child table when the parent table is modified.

With the current implementation, you have to add the index by additional SQL scripts or a

While it's not a big issue for @ManyToMany it's worse when you have a one way
@OneToMany association where the target entity is unaware of the association. This creates
a join table where the PK is just the column with the target entities id. The other column
is just a foreign key and is not indexed, and there is no way to define a index on it
using annotations.
