E.g., MIMECacheEntry.setValue("a"); // version = 1 MIMECacheEntry.setValue("a"); // version = 2 MIMECacheEntry.setValue("a"); // version = 3 You could just increment the version if the value changes, but that means doing an equals() on a byte[] which is expensive.
