> If a user deploys a filter/converter into server, and the cache contains custom classes, the default behaviour of unmarshalling custom classes for the filter/converter will generate CNFEs, e.g.
> {code}
> Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ValueAddedEvent from [Module

> (finder: local module finder @6f9a2170 (roots:

> org.infinispan.server.hotrod.ClientListenerRegistry$UnmarshallConverter.convert(ClientListenerRegistry.scala:383)
> [infinispan-server-hotrod-7.2.0-SNAPSHOT.jar:7.2.0-SNAPSHOT]
> {code}
> Even if the classes are deployed along with the filter/converter, these won't be found. Currently, the only way to workaround it is to add those classes into a module and get the infinispan-commons module to depend on it to locate them.
> A better solution is needed here...

[JBoss JIRA] (ISPN-5477) Compatibility with L1 can lead to wrong return type

> Currently, when using compatibility mode with distributed caches, it is possible for users to store keys using embedded API which hash differently to when the same key is access via remote API. This is due to the differences in source data. For embedded, the source object is the POJO, whereas for remote, the source object is the byte[] format of the pojo.
> When using such keys, remote APIs might go to a node which is not owner, leading to a remote get. When two gets are executed, the first of which results in L1 entry being added to the container, the second get result in exceptions such as this on the client:
> {code}
> java.lang.ClassCastException: [B cannot be cast to xxx....
> {code}
> This is due to over eager unboxing by the BaseTypeConverterInterceptor. I discovered this while investigating ISPN-5449.
> It would be ideal to not have scenarios where there are diverging keys but for that, clients would need to know when compatibility is enabled, which currently is not known by the clients. Maybe this could be negotiated with the ping command?

[JBoss JIRA] (ISPN-5511) Add a read-only mode for caches during split-brain with partition handling enabled
by Wolf-Dieter Fink (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/ISPN-5511?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.... ]
Wolf-Dieter Fink updated ISPN-5511:
-----------------------------------
Description:
If a split-brain happen and PH is enabled it would be worth in some use-cases that the complete cache becomes read-only instead of having some keys (DIST) or a complete instance (REPL) unavailable.
so a configuration like
<partitionHandling enabled="true" read-only="true" />
where read-only=false is the default to have the same behaviour as before might cover such cases.
It seems to be worth for DIST and REPL caches.

[JBoss JIRA] (ISPN-5322) A WARN message is shown that Partition Handling is not supported in REPL mode
by Wolf-Dieter Fink (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/ISPN-5322?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.... ]
Wolf-Dieter Fink updated ISPN-5322:
-----------------------------------
Summary: A WARN message is shown that Partition Handling is not supported in REPL mode (was: Support replicated cache for PH in a read-only mode)
Issue Type: Bug (was: Feature Request)
Description:
Current a REPL cache can enable partition handling and it is working since https://issues.jboss.org/browse/ISPN-4574 is implemented.
But there is still a WARN message that the PH is ignored for replicated mode which is confusing.
was:
Current a REPL cache can not enable partition handling.
There is a WARN message that the PH is ignored for replicated mode.
The reason is that if one node leave the cache can become inconsistent.
But for some reason it might be worth to have the cache available as read-only, so there is no way to make the cache inconsistent.
