I think H2 database as default will be more preferred.
With it, you can switch to any SQL dialect implementation by Hibernate.

If we include a persistence example, shouldn't we also include an example of how to
use:

Also, I think any persistence examples should use an embedded database like JavaDB or
HSQLDB.
