It shouldn't be, but it does not look like we have a test.
This is really an AS6 issue rather than a weld issue.

If a stateful session bean gets passivated and later on activated, then the
@Inject'ed fields are null.
The only workaround I found is: provide a method annotated with @PostActivate and make a
JNDI lookup for "java:comp/BeanManager".
