no worries I agree we need this :) Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing more jars
to update.
On Avro, there were reasons we couldn't update yet. let's check if things improved

i notice many of the required jars packaged in hibernate search 4.1 up are quite old now
and some of them are beta. it would be good to clean this up and move away from beta jars.
in particular i refer to snappy and apis
