Marking certain classes and methods as final is done to make life easier... I just saw the deprecation notice, navigated to this issue, and found the comment “if someone complains…”. Consider this a complaint 🙂 I’m aware that the JPA spec doesn’t like final , and the flexibility offered by Hibernate here is great. It allows us to design our domain model the way we like.
