I wrote a test and ran it on both 5.6 and main (6.2)… it works exactly the same on both. So what exactly is the error being reported here? Should this method be marked as abstract instead? If the setFirstResult() is not supported, maybe it’s better to throw an exception? I just wanted that to be clear, if it was not. In 6.2 there are some there are some bugs still being worked out with batching as we discussed on your other report ( https://hibernate.atlassian.net/browse/HHH-16367 ). That is currently broken. You should be able to remove one or the other as a workaround. I took your tests and verified that to be true.
