The only thing that I need is to capture the Object[] state But now switching to PostLoadEvent , I wouldn’t need the state not being null in the preload. Of course, you’ll need to see if that makes sense or not within hibernate design for the preload. On hibernate 5 the PreLoadEvent always had the Object[] state and that's why I was using it. Switching to PostLoadEvent , I can obtain the Object[] state using event.getPersister().getValues(event.getEntity()) and I assume the PostLoadEvent will never have an uninitialized proxy. I have three different queries, two of them are using JPQL, the other one is written native. None of them work, all results in an error.
