But rather, after each restart of the application, after DDL has already been generated, it tries to generate always, ignoring the ddl-auto update option (which should only look for schema changes). Otherwise, as I said, if you want to keep batching for both entities you can remove the @Generated annotation, and manually call refresh(interpretation) - this is a similar behavior to Hibernate 5.
