The problem is only de-serialization; as the wrong CL gets used.
Imo, simple ObjectIS::readObject should still be able to handle this, just used in the
right part of the code.

A quick look at the code only shows the class BackendMessage to be transferred. Is that
the culprit? It should be easy to work around that as it only contains a String and a
byte[] (serialized by Avro already)

CL.
