I understand that adding/perfecting support for annotations is a priority right now, but I still think it is an important feature, as many companies (especially those on the conservative side) will be reluctant to use an unfinished/unproven techology such as JSR-220 annotations for quite some time. XDoclet, on the other hand, is already widely used - and in other parts of applications, beside Hibernate mappings generation. Besides, choice is good, right? I believe David was already considering this, so this is just to speed things up... :-)
