yes, this seems to be client listener issue, probably not properly handling some error state and thus not releasing buffers allocated by Netty. Running the test with {{-Dio.netty.leakDetectionLevel=PARANOID}} if it gives some more details.

I believe this is related to client events, when there are so many of them, not CQ specific.
