One idea would be to alter the logging config to log DEBUG messages by
default in this mode?
I think the only issue with this would be that DEBUG can be very verbose, and unless you
are chasing down a specific problem it is often not very useful (and makes it more likely
that important log messages will not be noticed due to the noise).
