Hey Krishna,
for Hawkular we require possible students to contribute some
non-trivial code (i.e. more than just fixing a typo) in order to
be considered.
Apart from that you should probably best check out
Hawkular and build it and also build the Android client
to get a feel.
Then when the student submissions start on March 14th,
you should submit a proposal with a detailed time line on
when you want to achieve what.
To get started you can use a pre-built hawkular server and
only build the Android client from source.
The current master version of Hawkular (will be released
soonish) has such a generic inventory browser to walk
through the inventory graphs and then pick metrics to
chart. That can probably also help in getting started
with the thinking of the Android idea.
